BLURB:
Detective Tadhg Sullivan’s life seems to be falling apart, since being shifted to Clare from Dublin after falling out with the Minister for Justice and the Garda Commissioner.
Suddenly Sullivan is knocked out of his lethargy when a teenage girl goes missing not far from Ennis where he has been stationed. Sullivan is asked to lead the hunt by the local Superintendent and is catapulted into a world of unimaginable horror.
Will he be able to destroy The Brotherhood before their murderous reign takes another young life or will The Brotherhood destroy Sullivan and everything he loves?

EXCERPT
Detective Tadhg Sullivan awoke and stretched out his arm to embrace Helen, only to be struck once again with the shock and pain of her absence. It had been a month since she’d gone back to Dublin, but the emptiness she’d left in his life felt as fresh as it had the day she’d walked out.
For the first couple of weeks he’d hit the bottle and the nightclubs, looking for solace. After a fortnight of debauchery, he’d gotten back on the wagon, as he saw his life disintegrating back into what it had been before they met.

MY REVIEW
The Brotherhood by Daithi Kavanagh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Tadhg Sullivan is (not) like all detectives, he is a drunk, abandoned by his girlfriend and on the brink of depression...But when duty calls, he embarks in a dangerous investigation, looking for a missing teenage girl and that's how he gets into the corrupt world of a sadistic cult, full of very powerful and really perverse people.
The plot is intense, the suspense grows with every page, there are violent scenes with a lot of gore and details, the characters are likeable, the writing is great, but there's a couple of repetitions that were a little annoying, overall it's a fantastic thriller, with high amounts of mystery and suspense.
This is a four solid stars book, I enjoyed reading it.
Recommended to all fans of the genre!
