TWO WORLDS TWO MEN BY JOY FRAWLEY - VIRTUAL TOUR & REVIEW + GIVEAWAY

Two Worlds,Two Men
by Joy Frawley

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB
Jocelyn and Neely are having a perfectly pleasant dinner at the Sheep Heid Inn when it happens: Jocelyn suddenly finds herself sitting across the table, not from Neely, but a strange man dressed in medieval garb. This man is no apparition. His eyes, the deepest brown, clearly look on her in intimacy; his touch causes her pulse to rise.  Jocelyn realizes two things: from his clothes, he is clearly an aristocrat, and that she, Jocelyn Stewart, seems to be in some sort of romantic relationship with him! Minutes later Jocelyn returns to Neely, in the present day, weak and terrified. Together they begin to unravel the forgotten past and find themselves facing the reality of medieval Scotland. A strange world steeped in folklore and superstition; where life begins and often ends with the sword. As Jocelyn travels back to medieval times she learns that the man she keeps seeing is no other than Sir Colin Campbell of the powerful Campbell Clan. When Jocelyn is with Colin, she wants never to leave his side; then she returns to the present and cannot imagine herself with anyone but Neely. Jocelyn struggles with a choice. Which man will gain her heart when both offer such different love? She is in love with two different men in two different worlds.
EXCERPT
Jocelyn looked around for the driver who was supposed to be waiting for her arrival with a sign. She had hired someone to pick her up because, as an American and first-time visitor to Scotland, she had figured it would be less stressful.
She didn’t see the driver anywhere; then, just as she started feeling nervous, she saw a man holding a sign with her name on it. And what a man he was! He was broad shouldered, strong and had dark brown hair with reddish tints. He exuded masculinity like some cologne, and even across the airport, she thought she could smell it. Smoothing her unruly hair, she started to walk over to him.
The man, seeing her approach him, took a step toward her. “Are you, Jocelyn?”
When he spoke her name, she found herself frozen in place unable to respond. She’d heard this voice before; she knew this voice. This man spoke her name exactly like the dream she had had all those years ago! She had been stirred awake in bed by a voice of a man, who spoke her name with a Scottish accent. His voice was gentle and low; as if he wanted to gain her attention, but not cause her alarm. Jocelyn had clutched the sheets to her chest and stared out into the darkness of her bedroom almost feeling his intimate presence beside her. She lifted her hand up to her ear having sworn his warm breath had brushed her skin. Jocelyn remembered she had turned her head, anxiously, toward the pillow next to her and almost thought she would be looking into the eyes of a stranger; yet she had not been frightened. This man, his voice, somehow comforted her.
Now, she stood in the airport and caught her breath as she faced the man before her. Her eyes searched his face for something; though what it was she wasn’t sure. Jocelyn felt her heart beating so fast she was certain the man could hear it as memories flooded her mind of that night so long ago when he or someone spoke her name in the darkness. Was that the reason for her vacation to Scotland? Was she unconsciously trying to find the man?
MY REVIEW
Two Worlds Two MenTwo Worlds Two Men by Joy Frawley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
There are three important points of why you should read this book:
1) I have this weird obsession with Scotland since I was a little girl, so when I saw this opportunity I didn't hesitate and requested a copy! And Two Worlds Two Men portray this beautiful country with excellence!
2) We have a really credible and down to earth heroine being courted by two gorgeous men, one from the past and one from the present. Which one would she choose?
3) The plot is well written, the story grabs you from page one and have some really interesting twists. The end left me gasping and with my mouth open!
This is a book recommended for people who enjoys reading Historical Romance/Time Traveling
THE BOXFORD STORIES BY KRISTEN CARSON - BLOG TOUR + GIVEAWAY
Boxford Stories
The Boxford Stories by Kristen Carson
'Welcome to the world of the Runyons and the Feldsteds, two Mormon families in 1970s Maryland. Far from their Western American roots, they cling to each other like exiles clutching a precious box of topsoil from the old country.
"In The Boxford Stories you will meet Ada Runyon who always turns to Ruthalin Feldsted when she needs an ear—sharing her deepest confidences, her everyday musings, and her bits of horrified gossip. Yet Ada dies inside whenever Ruthalin’s country-cousin manners poke out in public.
"Latham Runyon, a history professor, and Erval Feldsted, a hospital engineer, bond every Sunday night over gooey desserts and vigorous religious discussion, a game their children call Stump the Rabbi. Underneath their balding heads and graying temples, each man desperately seeks a sign that God would choose him as a buddy.
"The Feldsted and Runyon children, running breathlessly through each other’s houses and backyards, have long considered each other substitute cousins. However, Ginni Runyon plots to change herself from the girl next door to the girl Marc Feldsted can’t live without.
"And when Boxford’s Mormons mix with the rest of the town, everybody could use a field guide to the other species.
"Laugh, cry, and shake your head with the Runyons and Feldsteds as they make their way through the decade that brought us leisure suits and urban decay."
add to goodreads
Praise for the book:
"Standouts include “Gypsy Holiday,” in which Ada’s anxiety over family friends not coming to Thanksgiving devolves into a stark admission of her loneliness and inability to connect with outsiders; “A Little Five-Minute Thrown-Together Something,” which lays bare the squirming insecurities of teenage crushes; and “Flirting Lessons,” which sees Ada’s teenage daughter, Ginni, taking a cross-country road trip with two friends that leads to panic when one goes missing. These stories are unexpected in their subtlety as they explore the reality of what it means to be Mormon—and human."
--Kirkus Reviews
“’In an almost Faulknerian way, Carson finds the pulse of ambition and uses that tick to reveal the inner voices that can haunt us all, if allowed. We should be looking to the eternities, of course, but in the meantime, we have so many other things to worry us onward into the night, or at least until the next priesthood interview."
--Association for Mormon Letters on "'Atta Boy" in The Boxford Stories
EXCERPT
These scene is set in 1978 on skiing holiday on Aspen Mountain, Colorado
Skiing from the sun-streaked slopes onto softer snow, Burke heard the skier behind him. Some moron is trying to pass me, and on my left! Does this guy know nothing? Burke couldn’t believe it. Wrong side, you jerk!. The thought had just crossed his consciousness when cold, wet gloves encircled his neck, covering his ears. The weight of another body pushed Burke suddenly to his right. In that split second, Burke’s face smashed into immovable tree bark at over fifty miles an hour.
The Assassin skied on, down the track, and was gone before the rooster-tail of snow spitting from his skis settled over the crumpled corpse of Thomas K. Burke.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Recipe for a Tasty book
1 cup full of dead bodies
1 pint of suspense
3 teaspoons of conspiracy
1 gallon of greed
A dash of romance
A lot of great characters
A big amount of mystery
Grab all those ingredients and mix them page through page and voila!
Your final product is this thrilling, compelling, and really tasty book.
Walter Danley gave us a great story, full of twist and turns, that keep you trying to guess who is the bloody killer?! I must confess that I didn't guess correctly and that was fantastic!! The minus that I could find, is the slow pace and the overly detail of characters, situations, thoughts.
Highly recommended for every fan of the genre!!
AUTHOR Bio and Links
Danley’s blue-collar background is far from the high-flying characters of The Tipping Point. He was born an Indiana Hoosier before Danley’s family moved to California when his father took employment as a machinist in a World War II defense plant.
Following D-Day, Walter Sr. reasoned that returning service men and women passing through the beautiful state of California might want to live there. He decided to be a home building contractor. His idea was good; the small error was that Danley’s dad built houses one at a time while contractors on the east coast built thousands at a time. However, this is the environment that young Walter grew up in; construction and real estate.
Much later, Walter served his country as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman. After Corp School Danley, thinking Medical Doctor as his career goal, enrolled in a specialist school as an Operating Room Technician (read scrub nurse) and transferred to the San Diego Naval Hospital.
He had the good fortune to work on the sixth floor Sick Officers Quarters with the Navy’s best. It is the Chiefs of Staff for each service; Orthopedics, Oncology, Internal Medicine, and others that tend to the patients in SOQ, and this became fodder for his fantasized future career.
The US Navy had little interest in his post-Naval plans. Danley was eventually transferred to the Fleet Marine Force as a Medic at U.S. Marine Corps’ Weapons Training Battalion, San Diego. Young Marine Corp recruits spent weeks training with the Corp’s small arms weapons. With live ammunition in the hands of trainees, a Medic was required to be on duty on the firing range. The author reports that there are many stories from the firing range and that some of these will undoubtedly find their way into future Danley novels!
Following an honorable discharge and with a new wife, he found his way back to the construction industry, selling kitchen cabinets to tract house and apartment builders. With bidding new construction projects and attending college at night, it left little time to help his wife raise his first two sons.
It was at this time Danley was recruited to join a commercial real estate firm. The first few years were spent in the land business, managing sales crews on projects as varied as raw acreage, improved lots and commercial land suitable for shopping centers or industrial parks. That set the stage for moving into income properties. Danley spent most of his working career on the investment side of this business.
Danley’s five grown sons have parented many grandchildren for him while building their own successful careers. He credits their mother’s outstanding child rearing skills together with the wonderful influence of their stepmother, Christopher Norris—a Broadway, film, and television actress—for the fine family with which he is blessed. Walter and Christopher were married for eighteen years, during the boys’ formative years. She remains a good friend to the boys and Walter.
Danley reignited his education in mid-career at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management, earning an MBA. Encouraged by the Pepperdine experience, he pursued a terminal degree in Management Theory at the Peter F. Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate School of Business.
A four-decade veteran of real estate investments on a national platform, Danley authored the course, Creative and Unconventional Finance and taught it at five campuses of the University of California Extension School for several years. During that period, Danley served on the UCLA Real Estate Advisory Board.
Walter lives in the Texas Hill Country, where he works on Inside Moves, the sequel to his suspense thriller, The Tipping Point. He confides that the Inside Moves will test his protagonist in ways unimagined in earlier works. Beyond that novel in Danley’s work in process and scheduled for release in 2016, is an as yet untitled stand-alone mystery. Danley describes it as a historical western but with a fantasy twist.
Synopsis
AJ
The lies between my parents and I came to light and now I’m working on a new life for myself. Along the way, I have my trusty superhero, Mason, to lean on when I have a hard time standing or when my crazy ex-boyfriend continues to feel he has a claim on me.
Porter has trouble understanding that there hasn’t been an ‘us’ for more than three years plus all the issues he had brought upon himself. My father was right, drugs do kill. My other concern is the growing feelings I am having regarding Mason. There’s something between us I want to explore but I keep getting mixed signals. Here, I thought that after telling my parents about my lies and having their full support, things wouldn’t be as complicated as they are.
Mason
My parents divorced before I even made my entrance into this world. My father has been obsessed with that love for years while my mother searches for love in all the wrong places. I don’t want a place to call home or a girl I can claim as mine. Except… Ainsley Janine –better known as ‘Nine’—has some special power that makes me question my preferences. The more I try to stay away from her, the more she pulls me closer.
Exploring the possibilities of having something steady in my life isn’t a problem; it’s the long term that worries me. In addition to that, the scumbag she dated years ago keeps popping up everywhere we go. If I could use my license to kill, maybe I can stop worrying about one thing and concentrate on what to do with the green eyed girl who keeps me awake most nights.
Excerpt
I come out of the shower and head to my closet. The second shower in the past two hours. Our romantic second date was running. Some watch movies, others go to galleries, and a few repeat the dinner scene. We went for a jog. Well, we jogged and chatted at Washington Park Arboretum. A great experience, as we had a regular Mason-Ainsley interaction: work, my plans for the school, why I quit the substitute gigs.
I check myself in the full-size mirror while combing my hair. Today, I’m not trying to impress anyone, not even myself. A white tank top, a black maxi skirt, and a pair of flat sandals will have to serve its purpose. I pull my hair into a bun. Today’s a cleaning house and running errands kind of day. There’s a shopping list on my phone that MJ sent over; those two swear I’m their executive assistant. Maybe later, I can head to the farmers market for some fresh fruit for their place and mine. But before I do any of those, I head to the kitchen to grab a snack. But before I reach the kitchen, the bell rings. I walk to the kitchen and check the monitor above the refrigerator. One of the front porch cameras shows Mason’s grainy face; the other camera, his broad shoulders covered by a dark t-shirt.
“In a minute,” I say pressing the intercom button.
“Forgot something?” I question as I swing the door open.
His eyes sweep over my body, from head to bottom and all the way back. That cocky grin appears, but I only see it for a few seconds as Mason’s lips take possession of mine. It’s only a quick taste that leaves my mouth needing more. “This kissing you whenever I want is better than any video game I’ve ever played.”
“You’re such a geek, Mason Bradley.” My voice comes out dreamy because we both know that video games are one of his passions, and my kisses trump that. “Not that I mind you kissing me senseless, but you left twenty minutes ago saying ‘thank you for the best second date’ and I assumed you called it a day.”
“Date number two is over.” He lifts his arm, and I notice he’s holding a grocery bag. “We’re on date number three, Nine. Breakfast time!” His excited voice resonates through the walls.
My spine straightens, and I tilt my head as I stare into his gray eyes. “Three dates in less than twenty-four hours? That’s cheating the system.” In fact, part of yesterday’s conversation replays in my head. The exact words were, ‘I’m leaving later tonight for a job.’ “What happened to that mission you had last night?” I cross my arms, my eyes become two slits and my foot taps on the floor.
“I delegated.” He lifts a shoulder slightly then slumps his entire back. Not sure if he’s being casual about it or regretting it. “Maybe I wanted to accelerate the process when you mentioned that five date rule. However, after you stopped obsessing with having the perfect date and loosened up, I got to enjoy parts of you I’ve never had before.” He gives me a peck on the lips. “Including the physical portion of a relationship. Today I want to spend more time with you.”
Surprising, yet expected. For a guy who doesn’t believe, he’s wooing with his own style. Yet I’ve always known he’s sweet.
MY REVIEW
AmnestyAmnesty by Jo Noelle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is my third book of this Author(s), and I absolutely adore them!!
This author(s) has the ability of writing in a way that's so fresh and lightly, that makes a grown woman (like me,ha) read a YA book without regrets.
Amnesty it's more darker than the other two that I read (Lexi's.. & Newbie) our Heroine, Cassie, is full of flaws, she's like any normal young girl but a one that had made bad decisions, and now has a chance to amend her wrongs. Sounds easy, don't? Yes, but for Cassie it's going to be a long and bumpy road to redemption.
The plot is fantastic, fast paced, with romance, friendship, good dialogues and realistic characters.
Highly Recommended!
PROTECTING SHAYLEE ~ THE FAE GUARD #1 BY ELLE CHRISTENSEN - VIRTUAL TOUR + GIVEAWAY
Protecting Shaylee
The Fae Guard # 1
By: Elle Christensen
Released April 24, 2015
Self-Published
BLURB
As a child, I believed in the fairytales my father told me.
Until he was gone and with him, that belief.
As a girl, I believed in the friendship and protection of Aden.
He made me begin to believe again.
As a woman, I believed in the possibility of love and passion between myself and Aden.
Until he was gone and with him, my belief in magic and happy endings.
When she was a child, I was tasked with her protection.
As a girl, I became her friend.
As a woman, I could no longer see the child I knew and was forced to fight a growing attraction.
Unable to lie and unable to tell the truth, I left.
Now I’ve returned to give the knowledge I couldn’t before, that she is half Fae.
The darkness is stalking her and I am desperate to teach her what she needs to know to protect herself.
And determined to make her mine.
EXCERPT
"Aden, what’s this?”
            “My mark?” It dawns on me then that I forgot to explain about our mark. “I can’t believe I forgot.”
            I glance back and see her furrowed brow, as she continues to trace the stained skin of my neck.
            “Fairy Wings?”
            I laugh at the skepticism in her tone. “Seems cliché, huh?” She raises a single eyebrow, waiting for me to expound upon my question.
            “Where do you think the folklore came from, babe? Haven’t you wondered why you haven’t seen anyone here with wings?”
            Her eyebrow descends and a sheepish look crosses her features. She shrugs, “I guess it crossed my mind once or twice, but I haven’t really thought about it.” She gives me a lopsided grin, the embarrassment in her eyes growing. “I guess I thought—um,” She stop and clears her throat, avoiding eye contact. Then she lets out a long sigh of acceptance. “I thought maybe I had to earn them.”
            I try. I really, really try to hold back my laughter but it explodes out in a howl of mirth. Shaylee’s face turns bright red and her lips turn down into an annoyed pout. I get control of myself, and caress the side of her face, “You’re so damn cute.”
PERMANENT SPRING SHOWERS BY SCOTT D. SOUTHARD - VIRTUAL TOUR + GIVEAWAY
Permanent Spring Showers
by Scott D. Southard
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB

Professor Rebecca Stanley-Wilson is having a very bad season.  The ramifications of one torrid evening with one of the great upcoming painters of his generation, will not only be felt across her life but over the entire art world. Sexy, funny, and very surprising, Permanent Spring Showers is the tale of one very memorable springtime and how it impacts a group of unique artists and dreamers. From the the hopeful Olympian with the failing marriage to the writer who is creating a new literary movement (through outright manipulation) to the romantic wondering what he did wrong to drive away the love of his life, each tale walks the line between reality and fantasy. And waiting at the end of the line is a very important painting... and possibly the revolver used in the Lincoln Assassination.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT
“What are you thinking? She’s an escort!”
“I’m in love, Steve. After sitting through the first twenty minutes of this lunch, it’s obvious you certainly still remember what that feeling is like.” He pushed his plate forward.
"But Clark…” I began.
He interrupted, “And it’s not like she wants to do that her entire life, Steve, if that is what is troubling you. She is doing it to pay for college.”
I stopped, the car of my mind shifting gears again. “Wait, did you say ‘is’? Do you mean she is still doing it?”
“Well, times are tough all over,” Clark replied far too calmly for my taste. “Have you seen college tuition rates this year?”
“And she’s really in college?” I asked, shocked. I began to wonder if I was on one of those TV shows and a camera was hidden in a bush nearby me.
My shock was perfectly mirrored by the opposite reflection of the casualness of my brother.
“You didn’t think I would marry an idiot did you, Steve? I need to be mentally challenged, you know that. She is studying education; her dream’s to teach third graders.”
“You’re engaged to a hooker…”
“Escort,” he corrected quickly for a third time.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” I said sarcastically. “You are engaged to an active escort who wants to be an elementary school teacher?”
“Yes,” Clark said with a dramatic point across the table at me. “And Steve, this is where you come in. You need to help me introduce her to mom and dad.”
