EXCERPT

The sound of a whine drew her attention. The injured wolf limped into the tall, dried grass. He turned and gave a low keening howl. It took a moment for her overwhelmed mind to spot the booted foot poking out of the brush. When she did, she hurried over. Parting the grass, she stilled and the air left her lungs.

“Oh, no.” She stared into open, sightless green eyes. These same eyes she’d seen in her crystals, those of the handsome trapper. Blaze rushed to his side, tears sliding down her face. “I’m too late!” Staring down at strong, rugged features, she pulled out her clear crystal and held it in one hand. It was completely blank. No green eyes, no red blood. Just the stars that seemed to pulse with life. Braced for the horror of death, she cupped her palm to one side of the young trapper’s face, feeling as though she’d lost part of her soul.

Setting the crystal on his chest, she was startled when a tiny spark of green flickered in the heart of the stone. She kept her palm on his face and leaned close, her breath fanning his face as she stretched out her other hand, holding it over him. She lowered her palm to his bloody chest. There was no heartbeat, no sign of air going in and out of his lungs, yet she felt something, not physical but deeper. His body might have given up, but the spirit of the man remained.

“No.” She pressed her hand hard onto his chest and gripped the side of his face. Tears slipped from her eyes. One dripped onto his cheek. “You cannot go.” Beneath her hand, she felt a sudden jolt, and hope flared in her soul. “I’m not too late.”

Without thought to the danger of retrieving a soul that had already departed the body, she merged with the stranger. He didn’t feel like such a stranger to her heart.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
When Ben Harris' sister passes away, her husband, Roger Keswick, is mysteriously absent from her funeral. It's not until 6 months later that Ben is pulled back in to Roger's life, only to find that he's moved on. His new wife may be called Jessica, but she's the spitting image of Ben's sister. Things escalate when Roger claims there's a factory under his house run by little people called the Katoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT

"Ben?" Audry called from the far gate.

"Here, Audry," I said, getting to my feet.

Roger did the same.

By the time we made it to the front yard the police were driving away.

Jessica and Audry approached us, each slipping an arm around Roger and me.

"Jessica, Audry.  I..." Roger stammered before he broke down into tears.

Arm in arm we went into the house.
"Come over here, all of you," Roger said, rushing into the living room.  Opening the wall cabinet that held his computer, he flipped it on. "Let me show you.  I have proof."

The girls moved, one to each side of him and I in the center, just far enough not to interfere.  The monitor hummed to life.

Audry silently wiped tears from her face and held my hand tightly.

Roger opened file after file until reaching one called 'Katoy.'

Excitedly, he got up, knocking over his chair, and rushed to turn on the stereo.  He adjusted it, making it a little louder than usual before righting the chair, retaking his place.

"You must promise never to speak of this outside of these four walls," he said, covering the screen with his left hand.

We looked at each other and vowed our oath of silence.

"Ok, Bob," Roger said and a new image jumped to the screen.

"Bob is your computer?" I asked a little bewildered.

"Yeah.  Cool huh?" he said, grinning, half turning to me.  "I have him hooked up all over the house."

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my face + reaction when I finished Machines Of The Little People:

And this one the second:

Yes, Wow! What I just read?? This book is Amazeballs!!!
The plot is unique, I must say that I haven't read a Sci Fi book so original in a long time. It has everything, mystery, suspense, romance, eccentric characters, conspiracy theories, and of course the little people with their machines!
Crazy, Wild, Excellent Written.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

I was raised pretty much the same as everyone else... devoted mother, strict father and all the imaginary friends I could conjure. Not that I wasn't friendly, I just wasn't "people orientated". Maybe I lived in my head way more than I should have, maybe not. I liked machines more than people, at least I did until I met my wife.

The first thing I can remember writing was for her. For the life of me I can't remember what it was about... something about dust bunnies under the bed and monsters in my closet. It must have been pretty good because she married me shortly after that. I spent a good number of years after inventing games and prototypes for a variety of ideas before I got back to writing.

It wasn't a deliberate conscious thought it was more of a stepping stone. My wife and I had joined a dream interpret group and we were encouraged to write down our dreams as they occurred. "Be as detailed as you can," we were told.

I was thrilled. If there is one thing I enjoy it's making people believe me and I like to exaggerate. Not a big exaggeration or an outright lie mine you, just a little step out of sync, just enough so you couldn't be sure if it were true or not.  When I write, I always write with the effort of "it could happen" very much in mind and nothing, I guarantee you, nothing, makes me happier.

COTTON CANDY BY MAE HANCOCK - VIRTUAL & REVIEW TOUR + GIVEAWAY

Cotton Candy
by Mae Hancock

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Cowboy, Cotton Reid is the laid back type of guy who accepts people as they are, no matter how flawed. People think he’s fun, honest and crazy about his boss and friend the sexy rancher Bay Redman.
Living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is something that family man, Bay, has done his whole life. Bay can be like a bear with a sore head if the hay isn’t stored symmetrically or his fridge contains an odd number of jars.
When the two men begin a hot affair, Cotton keeps a secret from Bay, but will Cotton find the courage to tell Bay the truth before someone else does?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT

The sincerity, pain, and honesty in Cotton’s eyes moved Bay so much he almost folded, wanting to hold Cotton and tell him there was nothing they couldn’t sort out. Nevertheless, Bay was in the danger zone. Even if every word and sentiment was true, Cotton had still deceived him. Bay couldn’t see a future for them. What if they pursued a relationship, and Cotton kept another secret for whatever reason? Bay needed a partner who shared everything so they could face their troubles together, no matter what, and Cotton wasn’t that man.

Vanessa had caused so much suffering. Cotton hadn’t even had the chance to be a father to his own child. He’d have been a good dad whether he’d had money or not. Good parenting isn’t born out of wealth, but love. Bay couldn’t visualize Kristen growing up and being any worse off with her natural father. And Bay couldn’t punish Cotton for simply wanting to get to know his only child. He wasn’t a bad man, and both he and his daughter should be allowed to build a relationship. Bay had no deep insecurities about Kristen; the notion that she might reject Bay and replace him with a virtual stranger was ridiculous. Cotton and Kristen’s relationship paled into insignificance against his own silly worries. The second part of the dilemma, his relationship with Cotton wasn’t so easy, but Bay couldn’t continue their relationship any longer.

“You finished?” Bay asked as tears filled Cotton’s blue eyes, scratching at Bay’s conscience and the part of him that loved and forgave.

“Yes, except— I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. Nothing will change that.” Cotton took in a sharp breath. “Can you forgive me?” His eyes took on a silvery hue that begged Bay to reconsider. It meant risk, and Bay didn’t take risks, especially bad ones. Unable to articulate an adequate response, he didn’t answer.

MY REVIEW
Cotton Candy (Wyoming Lovers Book 2)Cotton Candy by Mae Hancock
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sweet, Realistic & Down to earth romance.

Cotton Candy is a M/M love story, with two amazing main characters, Cotton: lovable, sweet, funny and Bay: Rough, family man with OCD. The perfect match!!
The plot is easy, with a couple of secrets that have you wondering when they're going to unveil? My favorite character (besides C&B) is Grandma, she made me laugh a couple of times, overall this book is a light read, with fantastic characters, and a sweet romance.
Highly enjoyable, recommended to all type of readers.

SHADOWS BY STELLA BARCELONA - VIRTUAL & REVIEW TOUR + GIVEAWAY

Shadows
by Stella Barcelona

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Cataclysm. Now. Run.
A cryptic, urgent text message turns the peaceful life Skye Barrows has created for herself and her sister into chaos. She must follow her father’s instructions to the letter, but Sebastian Connelly is blocking her way. Telling Sebastian what she must do is not an option.
What He Doesn’t Know Will Get Them All Killed
When a prison break in the midst of a security system upgrade threatens to destroy the reputation of Sebastian’s company, Black Raven Private Security Contractors, he goes on the hunt for escaped prisoner Richard Barrows – a delusional and paranoid computer software genius.
Sebastian’s mission: find Richard Barrows and return him to prison, but stonewalled by Skye, who refuses to give him answers, and with the added complication of her special needs sister, Sebastian finds himself always a step or two behind vicious killers.
Nothing About This Case is Normal
For Sebastian, it should be simple, but this case will test him in ways he never imagined. As probing interrogation becomes urgent protection, the search for Barrows forces Sebastian and Skye into a murky world of shadows and illusions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT

“I didn’t catch your name,” Skye said, keeping her tone cool. They hadn’t introduced themselves. She had wondered about his name after she had gotten Spring upstairs. If he had said it, she’d have remembered it. She remembered almost everything, even things she preferred to forget.

“Sebastian,” he said. “Sebastian Connelly.”

“I’m Chloe Stewart,” she said, “and we can talk right here.”

He frowned. He gave her a slight headshake. “Try again. This time with the name you were born with.”

Now he had her attention. His words, coupled with the weapon that was holstered at his hip, jolted her heart as her world shattered.

Run.

Was this why her father had sent the warning? Him? This Sebastian Connelly? Who the hell was he, and what did he want? Was he the reason the cataclysm scenario was in play? No matter what it was, Skye knew instinctually she shouldn’t hang around to find out. Oh God, she had to get away from there.

She drew a deep, deep breath. This couldn’t be happening now. She needed fresh air, so she could think. But there was no time to step outside as the walls started to close in on her. She drew another deep breath and slowed her thoughts, pushing aside her blossoming claustrophobia before it choked her. She focused on the three simple words her father had drilled into her, the reason why she and Spring were in hiding.

Trust no one. No one.

Trust no one.

No one with the government. No one with law enforcement. No one from your past, and no one from your future.

Trust no one, and that included gorgeous men who carried runaway puppies across the street and were gentle and patient with Spring, when he was the type of guy who didn’t seem like he had the time to pause. Maybe Mr. Blue Eyes was guessing. When in doubt, she had taught herself, say nothing. She stared into his eyes without flinching, wondering, why him? Why now?
